Across many rural communities in Ethiopia, access to hospitals, maternal healthcare, nutrition, and reliable food remains limited. No single intervention resolves this, because no single factor causes it.

In families experiencing severe economic hardship, children can reach an age, often somewhere around nine to twelve, where the household simply cannot continue supporting every member.
Some children leave their rural communities and travel toward cities in search of work, food, or income. Families may send them away hoping they will remain safe, find employment, and eventually be able to send money or resources home.
A nine year old should be thinking about school, not about how to become a provider for their family.
This is why our work concentrates on food security, education access, and household economic stability at the same time. A family that can eat and earn does not have to send a child away.

Goals for the next six months
Homes Rebuilt
Our goal is to completely rebuild two homes so families can move from unstable living conditions toward safe and dignified housing.
Families Consistently Fed
Over the next six months, we are working to provide consistent food support for eight families so parents are not forced to make impossible decisions about who eats.
Families Connected to Education
Of those eight families, our goal is to help at least three establish a pathway for their children to attend school consistently.
